Beyoncé breaks record as she collected six Grammy trophies

Beyoncé made history tonight as she collected six Grammy trophies, making her the most decorated woman in one night in the 52-year history of the awards show.

After earlier winning for song of the year for her Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), her sixth prize came in the category of best female pop vocal for Halo. See our complete winners list here.

"Wow, thank you so much," she said from the stage. "This has been such an amazing night for me. ... I'd love to thank my family for all of their support, including my husband. I love you."

Beyonce Contends the Grammy's

Can you believe that the very popular R&B singer, Rihanna was starstruck when she met Beyonce face to face? She says only six years ago she looked up to these people who are now her peers.

Rihanna attended her first arena concert in 2004. She said she was in the nosebleed section back then and in tears to have that opportunity. At that concert, Missy Elliot, Beyonce and Alicia Keys performed.

Rihanna said in response to meeting Beyonce, “I was a little starstruck” then corrects herself, “no, I was very starstruck.”

Rihanna adds that though she was starstruck by Beyonce, “it was very inspiring” and “motivated” her alot.

In related news, both Beyonce and Rihanna are expected to be performing at this year’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, among others as reported on HipHopRX.com. Along with Beyonce and Rihanna, more performances are expected by Drake, the drummer from Blink 182, Lil’ Wayne, Eminem, Lady GaGa, Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, The Black Eyed Peas (will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, Fergie) and Pink. The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled to air Sunday, January 31st on CBS.

Just seven artists share nominations at the Grammys, and three artists appear in every major award category.

It looks like the Grammys aren't winning any awards for diversity this year. The nominees for Album, Record, and Song of the Year are divvied amongst just seven artists. What's more, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce are conspicuously present in every category.

Experts are already expecting great things from Taylor Swift. Her sweeping success with every major award in 2009 and her breakout crossover success after only two albums have put her considerably ahead of the curb, even at such a young age. Her album, Fearless, and her hit, "You Belong with Me," are in the running for the album and record categories, respectively.

The competition is a bit more stiff when it comes to the song of the year. It is undeniable that Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" has been somewhat of a cultural phenomenon over the past year. However, some argue that this is a result of production and not genuine songwriting.

Meanwhile, Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" is an old style rock hit from a band that has spent years standing on the verge of a breakout. Though Swift's potential in this category can't be ruled out, she is up against a powerful rock competitor and the song that gave rise to the most parodied music video of the year.

Beyonce Couples Up With Chris Martin on 'Hope for Haiti'

Beyonce Knowles has lent her powerful voice for "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon on Friday, January 22. Taking part in the two-hour benefit event, the "If I Were a Boy" hitmaker delivered single "Halo" with the companion of piano play by Chris Martin, the lead vocalist of Coldplay.

On the special performance, the 28-year-old songstress also managed to inject Haiti into the lyrics of her fourth single off "I Am...Sasha Fierce". "Haiti, we can see your halo/ You know you're my saving grace," she sang. "You're everything I need and more, it's written all over your face/ Haiti, we can see your halo/ I pray you won't fade away."

While Beyonce took the stage along with Chris, her husband Jay-Z made a collaboration with Rihanna, Bono and The Edge. Having recorded "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)" in different studios around the globe, he and the three musicians performed the song live together for the first time with a full gospel choir and his band backing up.

"Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon was broadcast from New York, London, Los Angeles and Haiti and was aired commercial-free across ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN
, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT. Robert Pattinson served as a co-host while Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige were among the performers.

Alicia Keys celebrates career with Beyonce

Alicia Keys has revealed that she felt 'empowered' collaborating with Beyoncé on her new album The Element Of Freedom.

The singer revealed that there was a "party" atmosphere in the studio when they recorded 'Put It In A Love Song' together last year.

"We had a lot of fun. It's nice that we just celebrate each others careers, that's what the song is about, coming together to empower each other," she told 1Xtra.

"We've become really good friends. We've been in the business about the same amount of time and both signed to Columbia records together when we were 14.

"It was like a party in the studio, the energy was so high and chemistry was genuine."

Keys recently confirmed that she would release her solo version of 'Empire State Of Mind' as her next single. The original version with Jay-Z came out in October 2009.

Beyoncé Criticised For Playing Al-Gaddafi Gig

Beyoncé has come under fire for performing a private New Year's show for the 33-year-old son of controversial Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi. The singer was reportedly paid $2 million to sing at the concert which took place at the Nikki Beach nightclub in St. Bart's.

The "Single Ladies" singer has come under fire for performing for Moatessem-Billah Gaddafi , who is also known as Hannibal, because of his history of alleged violence toward women. Critics say that playing the gig goes against Beyoncé's image as a positive role model for women.

Spinner.com reports that Hannibal was arrested for punching a woman in 2005. His wife was also sent to the hospital with a broken nose on Christmas Day after police were called when screams were heard coming from his hotel room.
Beyoncé performed five songs at the concert, which was also attended by Lindsay Lohan, Usher, Jon Bon Jovi and model Victoria Silvstedt.

Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, was also in the audience. Guests allegedly paid £7,500 per table.
