Beyonce Named Woman of the Year

Beyonce will receive the Woman of the Year Award at the 2009 Billboard Women in Music Event. The ceremony takes place on Oct. 2 in New York.

Billboard's editorial director, Bill Werde, says, "Beyonce is a multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of the excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman of the Year Award was created to honor.

She has not only influenced pop culture with her hit songs and signature dance moves, but has inspired women everywhere with her unique style, business savvy and dedication to charitable causes."

Beyonce threw Lindsay out of her dressing room in Singapore

Washington (ANI): Beyonce Knowles reportedly drew frowns with her diva tantrums at the F1 Rocks gig in Singapore, and was seen making Lindsay Lohan move out of her own dressing room. The singer is said to have ordered her team to grab her the largest dressing area backstage, which was already claimed by Lindsay as she arrived before.

But the 'Mean Girls' actress was left facing disappointment after being told to vacate the room because Beyonce wanted it for herself, it was claimed. "I've been a bit down. It was a strange night. Everyone was being aggressive and bothering me. I really didn't like it," Contactmusic quoted Lindsay as having told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.

Beyonce also purportedly made her support acts face the heat, quite literally, after her entourage declined to use her air conditioning for them. British DJ Seb Fontaine, who suffered heatstroke, told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "We were told, 'No they are Beyonce's fans.' I wasn't asking to play her drum kit on stage. I just wanted to keep cool."

The 'Single Ladies' hitmaker further demanded six beauty chambers, fitness equipment, an authentic fruit platter and tea and honey in her 139-page rider.

Beyonce Outclassed Lindsay Lohan in Singapore

It was not fast cars, but popstar Beyonce Knowles who was the centre of attention at the Singapore Grand Prix as she stepped out in leather hot pants and red lipstick.

The 'Bootylicious' singer who will be performing at the F1 Rocks concert, wore an unzipped custom-made team shirt and hot pants, for a meet and greet event with the F1 champs, reported Daily Mail online.

She met up with the Lewis Hamilton and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, before embracing Hamilton's girlfriend, Nicole Scherzinger of the 'Pussycat Dolls'.

There had been rumours that the pair had split after Scherzinger, 31, pulled out of hosting the concert a fortnight ago.

'Mean Girls' star Lindsay Lohan has stepped into her shoes to host the three days event which featured bands such as No Doubt, ZZ Top, Simple Minds and NERD.

"It's a bunch of amazing performers whom I'm a really big fan of," said Lohan.

Beyonce to make history in Malaysia

When Beyonce closes out an upcoming concert at Malaysia's Bukit Jalil national stadium, organizers say history will be made.

"We are confident that (the concert) will once and for all silence international critics and put Malaysia back on track in presenting A-list international pop concerts in this region," concert organizers Marctensia said in a statement Wednesday.

According to Marctensia, Beyonce and all parties have come to an "amicable understanding" over wardrobe and the region's troubled past when it comes to international entertainers.

Earlier this week, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party opposed Beyonce's forthcoming concert deeming her "skimpy attire and behaviour onstage" immoral.

Nonetheless, organizers, calling her a "role model," believe Beyonce's forthcoming concert will make history and open doors for future concerts in the region.

As previously reported, Beyonce is due to perform in Malaysia October 25.

Beyonce to Pull in the Crowd in Singapore

SINGAPORE : Some of the world's hottest music acts will go full throttle to entertain Formula One's glamour set this weekend as Singapore works to build on the success of its inaugural Grand Prix.

Last year's race was a sell-out but in tough economic times ticket sales this year have been slower.

To boost the off-track experience and pull in punters, organisers have spent big on a star-laden party.

Superstar Beyonce headlines the three-day F1 Rocks Singapore festival at Fort Canning Park, also featuring No Doubt, Black Eyed Peas, Travis, Simple Minds, ZZ Top, and Chaka Khan.

Hollywood starlet and paparazzi magnet Lindsay Lohan will host the event, local reports said.

She stepped in after Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger pulled out after reportedly splitting with her driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.

Inside the Marina Bay street circuit, the Backstreet Boys and a host of top deejays, led by John Digweed, will keep the music pumping long after the Formula One cars have driven back to the pits.

The drivers have their own exclusive party at the Official Formula 1 Lounge, hosted by European socialite and TV presenter Tamara Ecclestone, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone's daughter.

Tickets are being sold at a hefty 500 Singapore dollars (354 US) per person, or 12,000 dollars for a VIP table.

"It's about time Singapore had a taste of real Grand Prix glamour and The Official Formula 1 Lounge will enhance the overall appeal of our night race," said Michel Lu, director of the Stereolab dance club that is hosting the event.

Singapore is heavily reliant on tourism and events like the Grand Prix are part of its strategy to boost revenues.

Last year, overseas tourists in town for the race chalked up a total of 168 million Singapore dollars (119 million US) in receipts, according to the Straits Times.

Beyonce to have a Concert in Malaysia - at last

Beyoncé has announced that she’ll finally perform a concert in Malaysia despite the dress code.

Bey will take the stage in Kuala Lampur this October 25. “Beyoncé for the first time ever has decided to make Malaysia part of her I Am… World Tour,” read a statement on her Web site.

This comes two years after she originally backed out of a show in Malaysia when members of the Islamic protestors threatened to bust up her concert over her revealing costumes and sexy image.

In light of this new concert a member of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said Sunday that it would send the country’s government a note protesting the concert. However, this time around they don’t plan to stage a demonstration to disrupt the show.

"We are not against entertainment as long as it is within the framework of our culture and our religion," said Sabki Yusof, the organization’s youth leader of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party. "We are against Western sexy performances. We don't think our people need that."

One place that doesn’t have a problem with Sasha’s onstage style is Sydney, Austraila, where she performed this weekend. During her concert, Beyoncé brought a little girl named Chelsea, who’s suffering from Cancer, out to deliver a special serenade.

Beyonce sued for smelling

Beyonce has her irons in lots of fires, but she would never step on anyone’s toes! From TMZ:

A&F just filed a federal lawsuit against Beyonce, claiming her upcoming line of products called “Sasha Fierce” — which includes a fragrance — is a knock-off of their own line of smelly good liquid which is simply named “Fierce.”

In the suit, which was filed in Ohio, Fitch claims they sent Beyonce a cease and desist letter in 2008 when she started applying for “Sasha Fierce” trademarks.

Hmmmmm…but Beyonce’s side had this to say:

Beyonce’s rep, Alan Nierob, just issued the following statement: “There is no fragrance line directly or indirectly associated with Beyonce that has the name ‘Sasha Fierce’ or anything using the word ‘Fierce.’”

I guess someone has something wrong in the paperwork. I doubt Abercrombie would waste the money on lawyers if there wasn’t something to fight over!
